How the Tow Genius score works

The 100-point framework

• 25 points: tow-rating margin
• 25 points: payload margin
• 20 points: tongue-weight and hitch compatibility
• 10 points: GCWR margin
• 10 points: hitch and equipment readiness
• 10 points: terrain and weather conditions

Hard safety caps

Exceeding the entered tow rating, payload capacity, GCWR, or hitch tongue rating triggers a red warning and caps the score at 39. Missing critical braking equipment or selecting severe weather can cap an otherwise compliant result at 59.

What the score cannot know

The calculator cannot inspect maintenance, loading distribution, tires, brakes, hitch installation, road conditions, driver experience, laws, or the accuracy of entered data. Treat the score as a structured pre-trip review—not permission to tow.
